Linda C. Warwick
Warwick Artworks
Linda Warwick has been an artist and nature lover all of her life.
At sixteen, she started working as a commercial artist in the Chicago
suburbs. Since then, she has illustrated educational programs and
catalogs, designed logos, brochures, packaging and even the old toys
for Cracker Jacks.
During breaks in her career to raise three children, she painted portraits
of people and their pets. At the same time, she developed skills in
woodcarving and scrimshaw, usually working on commission. A sample of her
scrimshaw was published in the 1981 Guns Illustrated. She was commissioned
to carve a pair of ducks on a shotgun for Ducks Unlimited, and donated the
work to benefit waterfowl.
In 1978, her family moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas. She and her husband,
Jack, own and operate Charley's Bait & Sports. The beauty of the area
inspired her work in landscape and wildlife art. In 1994, she helped
design the logo for The Friends of the Little Red River, an organization
to protect the wildlife and habitat of the river. In 1995, she designed
a new "Live Trophy Release" symbol for the same group. She has often
donated her work to help wildlife protection agencies.
In the past, most of her work has been commissioned or sold privately. You
can see some samples of her commissioned work under the Gallery
link. She began to enter her work in a few competitions in 1994. The
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission chose her painting of a Peregrine falcon
for the cover of their 1995-1996 Wildlife Calendar. Arkansas has used more
of her work every year that she has submitted it. The Indiana Department
of Natural Resources used one of her paintings in their 1995 Calendar, and
two in 1998. She took second place in their 1998 Trout Stamp Competition.
Her first entry in the Arkansas Wildlife Federation's Annual Art Competition
won a fourth place award.
Please be sure to enjoy her works under the Gallery and Prints
links. You can always contact Linda if you are interested
in commission work or for more information about any of her artwork. Some of
the originals in the Gallery are still available for purchase.
